AFUB The African Union of the Blind (AFUB) is an umbrella organization comprising of organizations of and for the Blind in Africa. Founded in 1987, it has the sole purpose of ensuring access and expansion of quality services for all blind and partially sighted persons in the Continent.. The specific aims of AFUB are: List of 5 items 1. Influencing public policies and practices governing the education, health, welfare, social security, rehabilitation, employment, sports and recreation of blind people. 2. Working for increased access by blind and visually impaired people on basic human rights through advocating for the elimination of discriminatory laws and practices affecting blind and visually impaired people. 3. Facilitating, strengthening and developing national associations of the blind and visually impaired. 4. Mobilizing resources at the local, national and international levels to support human resource development, and economic empowerment services for blind and visually impaired people. 5.
